Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Indian Forest Service Examination 2014

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold preliminary screening test for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2014 for recruitment to the Indian Forest Service Officers commencing from 24/08/2014. The pattern of the Indian Forest Service Examination 2014 has been changed and candidates for IFS Examination 2014 needs to appear in the Indian Civil Service Examination (Preliminary) 2014 for the same. Therefore candidates needs to apply for Indian Civil Service Examination 2014 to appear in Indian Forest Service Examination 2014.

Qualification: Bachelors degree of any recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as i). General Category - 6 attempts. ii). OBC - 9 attempts. iii). SC/ ST - No limit.

Age (As on 01/08/2014): 21-32 years 

Fee: Rs.100/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit card. Female/ SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Plan of Examination: The competitive examination comprises two successive stages:
  • Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) for the screening & selection of candidates for Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; and
  • Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates against the vacancies identified and reported for the Indian Forest Service Examination.
Penalty for Wrong Answers: Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
